Developments

The Dallas Arts District has experienced explosive growth this decade.  Now, with the opening of the AT&T Performing Arts Center, we have almost fulfilled the dreams of generations.  And yet, there is more excitement to come.   More restaurants, shops and residences are planned within walking distance of the existing Arts District venues.  In the next several years, we will also see the opening of new public institutions, continuing the tradition of excitement and excellence.

AT&T PERFORMING ARTS CENTER ANNETTE STRAUSS ARTIST SQUARE - Foster + Partners’ design for the new Annette Strauss Artist Square includes a permanent stage pavilion, adjacent to the Winspear Opera House. In this serene, open-air setting, thousands may enjoy a variety of outdoor events ranging from concerts to theatrical and dance performances to multi-day festivals. Opening 2010. For more information, please visit ATTPAC.org.

THE ARTS, APARTMENTS BY JEFFERSON - The Arts, Apartments by Jefferson is the first for-rent residential community located in the Dallas Arts District.  The 228 unit luxury apartment complex overlooks the Arts District and will be six stories, plus one sub-grade level. Opening 2010. For more information, please visit Greystar.com.

THE PARK – Construction is already underway on one of Dallas’ most unique parks – a deck plaza covering Woodall Rodgers Freeway – that will join the Arts District with the Uptown area of Dallas.  Designed by the Office of James Burnett, the 5.2 acre, $80 million deck park will provide a vital pedestrian and bicycle connection between the neighborhoods, enhanced by a children’s playground, a dog park, a restaurant, and a performance pavilion.  Opening 2011. AT&T Performing Arts Center CITY PERFORMANCE HALL - City Performance Hall is a multi-disciplinary center that will bring a broad range of cultural performances and events to the Dallas Arts District by a growing group of small and midsize cultural organizations that represent all artistic disciplines and the diverse heritages of our community.

City Performance Hall is designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP. SOM’s design for the City Performance Hall is intended to provide a lyrical and elegant addition to the Dallas Arts District. The facility will be a unique and delightful “village for the arts” for the many performing arts groups that will use the complex. The facility will feature a 750-seat multi-purpose hall, two 200-seat flexible theaters, an art gallery, a café, two classrooms / rehearsal spaces and the supporting spaces necessary to operate a performing arts facility. A series of courtyards accent the complex, providing special event areas for visitors and performers. Opening 2011. For more information, please visit ATTPAC.org.
